Personification- Assigning a human quality of characteristic to an inanimate object.

Example from the text-

“diminishing, moving mountain.” (line 18, page 152). Although probably not a true example of personification, a mountain can not move, or diminish (really), hence an animate object can diminish into the distance whilst moving, whereas a mountain can diminish but only if those looking at it are moving.
